NSYNC fans might never hear some of the band’s tracks as the bandmates lost recorded songs equivalent to an album.
The Bye Bye Bye crooners broke ties with late manager Lou Pearlman in late 1990s and with his record label Trans Continental.
At the time, the band members, including Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and Jason Galasso, were working on new tracks, which was being recorded by Lou and he retained the rights.
After their split, NSYNC restarted recording songs for their 2000 record No Strings Attached.
But what happened to those recorded songs the bandmates do not know and they were never released.
Joey said of the tracks to People, “There’s a whole CD, because after we dispersed from [former manager Lou Pearlman], he owned the rights to the whole album that we recorded, and that’s why we didn’t get any of those.
“That’s why we started with [the] No Strings Attached album, we had to redo and just do a whole new album.”
The 49-year-old baritone singer said that a few of the songs are still hanging in the air and he might own a copy too.
“There’s copies floating around and… the writers have either released it or put it somewhere,” he added.
On the other hand, Lance Bass believes that the unreleased tracks are “probably just lost,” which include a song titled Tanya. The 47-year-old musician said the song “would’ve been a banger”.
Joey quipped, “[It was] a song that had different names every chorus.
“It wasn’t that good. It made it nowhere.”
It is pertinent to mention that NSYNC split in 2001 but the former bandmates have joined hands multiple times to perform on stage.
After their last reunion at Justin’s 2024 concert in Los Angeles, Lance said they have not planned any future reunions yet but there’s “always a chance.”
