Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman, MP, said today (14 April) that there is no scope for political considerations or irregularities in the distribution of Farmer’s Cards.
“The government will gradually distribute the Farmer’s Card among small and marginal farmers across the country. There is no room for political bias or any irregularities in the process,” he said.
He was speaking to journalists after distributing Farmer’s Card in Abaipur Union under Shailkupa Upazila of Jhenaidah, where a total of 1,679 farmers from the Kripalpur block of Abaipur Union received the cards in the first phase under a pilot project.
The minister also noted that since assuming office, the government has been fulfilling its electoral promises.
“The government has already waived agricultural loans of up to Tk10,000 for farmers. Today, the distribution of Farmer’s Cards has begun,” he said.
He also said that canal excavation programmes are also being implemented nationwide to increase agricultural production.
Asaduzzaman added that the government is continuously working to improve the living standards of farmers.
Earlier, the inauguration ceremony of the Farmer’s Card distribution was held at Kripalpur Government Primary School in Abaipur Union, where Prime Minister Tarique Rahman joined virtually.
Among others present at the event were District Commissioner Noman Hossain, Superintendent of Police Mahfuz Afzal, District Council Administrator MA Majid, District BNP General Secretary Zahiduzzaman Mona, and Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension Md. Kamruzzaman.
