No decision has yet been made on supplying additional fuel to the market following the recent fuel price increase, officials at the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources said today (19 April).
Energy Division spokesperson Monir Hossain Chowdhury told The Business Standard that fuel has often been supplied beyond the fixed allocation. He said yesterday that diesel and octane supply to the market was increased by 10% to 20%.
He added that to normalise the situation at filling stations, panic buying among people must be reduced.
He also said that the country has sufficient fuel in stock, even exceeding storage capacity, and urged people to remain aware and stop panic buying.
The remarks come at a time when fuel prices were recently increased through a government gazette, which took effect from today. Under the revised structure, diesel is priced at Tk115 per litre, octane at Tk140, petrol at Tk135 and kerosene at Tk130.
Officials said the adjustment was made in line with global oil market trends and supply conditions.
