Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanashyam Bhandari yesterday (24 April) underscored the wide-ranging opportunities for bilateral cooperation between Bangladesh and Nepal in areas such as trade, transit, energy, connectivity, education, and tourism.
He also emphasised the importance of strengthening business connections to foster a more robust economic partnership between the two countries.
The ambassador was speaking at a programme, organised by the Embassy on ‘Nepal-Bangladesh Relations: Advancing Economic Cooperation’ in Rangpur in the evening.
He commended the Rangpur business community for their contributions to promoting private sector engagement between Nepal and Bangladesh.
First Secretary Yojana Bamjan made a presentation outlining the main areas of economic cooperation with particular emphasis on trade, transit and connectivity, energy, and tourism, among others.
She highlighted the progress achieved so far in these sectors and noted the prospects for further collaboration.
The presentation was followed by an interactive session, during which participants focused on ways to advance the Nepal-Bangladesh economic partnership further.
Additional District Magistrate of Rangpur Christopher Himal Ritchil, President of Rangpur Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Md Ghulam Zakaria, acting President of Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Manjur Ahmed, President of Rangpur Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Shahanaz Parvin Shahin also spoke at the event, stressing the need to strengthen linkages between business communities of the two countries.
Participants, including representatives of various Chambers of Commerce and Industries and business organisations, prominent business leaders, travel and tour entrepreneurs and media persons based in Rangpur, attended the programme.
