The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecast rain in different parts of the country over the next 24 hours, commencing from 9am.
“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely to occur at a few places over Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions, and at one or two places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions,” said a Met Office bulletin issued this morning.
It also said moderately heavy rainfall may occur at places across the country.
A mild heatwave is sweeping over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and the districts of Dhaka, Tangail, Faridpur, Gopalganj, Kishoreganj, Narayanganj, Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Khulna, Jashore and Chuadanga, and it may abate from many places, the bulletin said.
Day temperatures may fall slightly, while night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged across the country.
The highest temperature yesterday (21 September) was recorded at 37.5 degrees Celsius in Sreemangal, while today’s minimum temperature was 22.5 degrees Celsius in Narayanganj.
In the last 24 hours, until 6am today, the highest rainfall of 30mm was recorded in Mongla.
The sun sets at 5:55pm today and rises at 5:48am tomorrow in Dhaka.
