Legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese’s daughter, Francesca Scorsese, is firing back at online trolls after she received hateful comments about her appearance on social media.
The 26-year-old daughter of Martin took to her TikTok account and shared in a video that she is facing intense criticism after reposting news about landing a role in season two of Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
Francesca said in the clip, “It has some of the worst comments I have ever seen about me.”
Despite facing criticism for being a “nepo baby” all her life, Francesca admitted these comments felt much more personal and hurtful.
The aspiring actress explained, “I understand. I know I have doors opened for me. Like, I’m still trying to do the work, I’m still going hard and being passionate and creating and doing the work.”
Moreover, she also called out people spreading negativity online. “But I think if you go on people’s videos and you seek out negativity, you are a very, very sad person.”
The actress revealed that people called her “fat,” “ugly,” compared her to a “fridge,” and even called her “Miss Piggy.”
Francesca further noted, “I get it — I’m not the most beautiful girl in the world. I’m not the skinniest girl in the whole world. I’m chubby, I know it. But like, what the f*** does it matter?”
She added that this negative behavior on social media can drastically affect people’s mental health.
“This is the kind of thing that causes people to lose their lives, like, your words have power behind them,” Francesca shared.
It is pertinent to mention that Martin welcomed Francesca with his second wife at the age of 56, and called her “a special blessing” in his life.
He is also father to two older daughters, Cathy, 60, and Domenica, 49, whom he welcomed with former wives Laraine Marie Brennan and Julia Cameron, respectively.
