Mark Consuelos has a hilarious take on his marriage deal breaker to Kelly Ripa after learning about a new Pennsylvania bill that would “recognize pets as family members.”
During a recent episode of Live With Kelly and Mark, Kelly informed her cohost and husband that the law would elevate “their status in situations such as divorce.”
Mark took the opportunity to take a jab and said he would never compromise his time with their dog Lena and would be willing to live in a loveless marriage.
He said, “Let’s just put it this way: I would stay in a loveless marriage just to make sure I could be with Lena every day.”
“That’s how much I love Lena,” Mark remarked.
Kelly, who burst into laughter after hearing Mark’s comment on their imaginary divorce, quipped, “Is that all you’re asking for, is a loveless marriage?”
“Because that can be arranged. Done!”
Mark, who adopted a Maltese and Shih Tzu mix with Kelly back in 2021, explained what it would look like to him to be away from Lena, “I would stay up at night wondering what she was doing.”
Kelly continued the jab by adding that the actual reason for Mark’s sleeplessness would be him “wondering if there was some other man petting” Lena.
For those unversed, Kelly and Mark have been married for 30 years and share three kids, Michael, Lola, and Joaquin.
