Man stabbed to death in Hazaribagh

A 30-year-old man was killed after being stabbed by assailants in the capital’s Hazaribagh area early today (22 July).

The incident occurred around 2am on a road beside a temple in Shah Alam Goli, near Hazaribagh Park.

The victim, Sagar Hossain Bullet, was rescued in critical condition and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where he died while undergoing treatment around 5:30am today.

Sagar, son of Shahadat Hossain, was a resident of Bhagalpur Lane in Hazaribagh. He did not have a permanent occupation but had recently been working as a helper for a transport service.

Ibrahim, the auto-rickshaw driver who took Sagar to the hospital, said he spotted the young man lying unconscious in a pool of blood beside the temple while heading to a garage after finishing work.

Sagar had multiple serious injuries to his head. With the help of a resident, Ibrahim called the national emergency service number 999. Police later arrived at the scene and instructed them to take Sagar to the hospital.

He was admitted to DMCH around 2:30am and died while receiving treatment in Ward 103.

“We learned about the incident from the police and residents. We still have no idea who killed my brother so brutally or why,” said the victim’s brother Shawon.

Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH Police Camp, confirmed the death, citing physicians.

He said the body had been kept at the DMCH morgue for an autopsy, adding that police were working to identify and arrest those involved.
