Lil Nas X is celebrating a personal milestone, marking what he called his “10,000th day alive” after a period of mental health treatment earlier this year.
The 27-year-old singer shared the celebration on Instagram, showing a cake he made and a lighthearted video to commemorate the occasion.
“So, tomorrow is my 10,000th day alive and…I made it!” he said with a smile. “A lot of y’all won’t make it but I made it.”
The Grammy winner later shared a clip of him smiling with icing around his mouth as he ate the cake with his hands.
The next day, he shared another video reflecting on the support he’s received since returning to social media, joking about how people have responded warmly to even his most ordinary posts.
“Ever since I got out of rehab, everybody’s like OD nice to me. I could be like ‘Hey’ and everybody’s going to be like ‘Oh my God, you’re so brave,’” he said, laughing. “I can try to post a thirst trap on my Instagram Story and then it’s going to be somebody like, ‘Keep fighting King.’”
Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Hill, returned to social media earlier this summer after taking time away, during which he shared that he had spent time in treatment and had since been focusing on his mental health.
He explained that he now works with a therapist and psychiatrist, which he said has been helpful after a bipolar disorder diagnosis.
He shared that he had suspected this diagnosis for some time but had been hesitant to fully accept it earlier, adding that he now feels significantly better after receiving proper support and treatment.
