A legal notice has been sent to actress Tanjin Tisha over allegations of publishing photos of the plaintiff without consent and spreading false information.
The legal notice was sent by post today (28 October) on behalf of fashion designer and Velvet-Youth magazine editor Sanaya Anam Wafiqah Chowdhury, Supreme Court lawyer Shubhra Sinha Roy confirmed.
He said the notice asked Tisha to remove all photos and posts featuring the plaintiff from her verified Facebook page within two days of receiving the notice and refrain from publishing any of the plaintiff’s photos on the page in the future.
Otherwise, legal action would be taken against Tisha over financial defamation, including proceedings before the Cyber Tribunal and any other competent court, he said.
According to the legal notice, the plaintiff has filed two separate cases against Tanjin Nahar Tisha at the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court in Dhaka and the Executive Magistrate’s Court over the sari controversy. Both cases are ongoing.
The notice alleges that on 27 October, Tisha used her verified Facebook page, named “Tanjin Tisha”, to circulate objectionable photos and false information about the plaintiff. It also accuses the actress of misrepresenting the matter to the country’s media.
The notice further states that on 7 November 2025, Tisha threatened the plaintiff with making her go viral through Facebook Messenger, saying, “Tell me when you become famous, and I will upload your photo.”
The plaintiff alleged that Tisha subsequently uploaded her photos to Facebook as part of the same pattern of behaviour, damaging her reputation.
According to the notice, Tisha also wrote in a Facebook post, “Why are these two together? Why do these two sisters unite in hatred?”
The plaintiff said she and the other woman whose photo was shared are not sisters. The notice alleges that Tisha portrayed them as sisters across social media and other platforms, presenting their relationship negatively and damaging the plaintiff’s reputation.
It states that the plaintiff is a fashion designer, while the other woman is an entrepreneur, and that they know each other in these professional capacities.
The notice also alleges that Tisha published photos of two minors in her Facebook post without obtaining permission from the plaintiff or the children’s families, which it describes as a clear violation of the Cyber Security Act 2023.
