Kelly Clarkson received “beautiful” advice from the late Dolly Parton after she finalized her divorce from Brandon Blackstock.
During the singer and host’s latest appearance on the Las Culturistas podcast, Kelly reminisced about the time when she sang the Queen of Country’s song I Will Always Love You at the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2022.
Recalling her performance, Kelly revealed that 30 minutes before her performance, she finalized her divorce from her late ex-husband, who passed away last year in August.
Kelly shared, “(Dolly), kind of, caught me. We were having a conversation about something else, and I was like, ‘I’m sorry. It’s just kind of a wild moment for me.'”
The mom of two continued, “She’s just one of those people you don’t have to know your whole life, but you can in one instance.
“Every time we ran into each other, she was so cool. It’s like you’re catching up with an old friend. That moment for me and what she said backstage to me was just a really beautiful thing, and really helpful.”
Though Kelly did not share the conversation that took place between her Dolly, she revealed the one hour was really tough on her.
Kelly added, “It was just a really weird hour for me. But, anyway, she was very, very cool, and I’ll never forget that moment.”
For those unaware, Dolly passed away on August 25 after a brief battle with cancer.
