Keke Palmer knows she can rely on fellow star Jennifer Lopez at the time of need.
The actress and singer called her Hustler costar Lopez her “real mentor” who was always there when she needed honest and real advice during her turbulent phase of life.
During a recent appearance on Amy Poehler’s Good Hang, Palmer said, referring to their film, “We became really close after that.”
The Nope actress continued, “I’ve gone through things in my life where it’s like randomly she’ll be like, ‘Call me if you need me.’ I’ll call her and she’ll give me some real deal and it’s just like she’s a real girl’s girl.”
Palmer further shared that Lopez was impressed with her strong work ethic.
“We kind of bonded because she saw me on my grind,” she recalled.
Despite being a fan of Lopez, Palmer admitted that she did not let her fandom come in between their work on set and stayed focused on her work and after the multi-hyphenate noted it, she rooted for Palmer’s success.
“She’s a real mentor and she’s like I want you to win,” Palmer added.
However, Palmer previously admitted that she was quite nervous to work beside Lopez.
Palmer told Entertainment Weekly in 2019, “My first scene in the film was with her. She was letting me know that she was glad I was a part of it and that she thinks we’re going to have a great time. I appreciated that she embraced me from the beginning, because it’s her movie, she’s the head of it, so it’s going to be a fun time!”
