Kate Jackson has finally revealed why she decided to build a life away from the glitz and glam of Hollywood after embracing motherhood.
For those unaware, Kate is the mother of one child, a son named Charles “Charlie” Taylor Jackson, whom she adopted in 1995, while he was born in 1982.
During a Charlie’s Angels 50th anniversary reunion event at PaleyFest LA 2026 on April 6, the 77-year-old American actress and television producer, along with her co-stars Cheryl Ladd and Jaclyn Smith, chatted with journalist George Pennacchio for a panel.
Shedding light on her decision to step aside from the acting world, Jackson said she was struggling to maintain a healthy balance between motherhood and her career.
She voiced her thoughts by saying, “I realized that I really couldn’t be a good director and a good mom at the same time. And I thought, ‘If I’m not a good mom, it really doesn’t matter what else I do well.’”
Notably, Jackson started her acting career with a soap opera, Dark Shadows, in 1970. Before gaining wide acclaim with her portrayal of Sabrina Duncan in Charlie’s Angels for five seasons from 1976 to 1981, she played Jill Danko in the police procedural series The Rookies from 1972 to 1976. Other than acting, she also directed the 1986 show Scarecrow and Mrs. King.
It is pertinent to mention that Kate Jackson did not have a child in all three of her marriages. She was married to Andrew Stevens from 1978 to 1981, David Greenwald from 1982 to 1984, and Tom Hart from 1991 to 1993.
