J Balvin and his girlfriend Valentina Ferrer have parted ways after nearly 10 years together.
The Miss Universe contestant, 32, announced her split with the Colombian singer on her Instagram handle on Wednesday, September 16.
“After sharing so many years and important moments together, José and I have decided to take separate paths,” penned Valentina.
For those unaware, J Balvin first met Valentina in 2017 during the shoot of his music video Sigo Extrañándote. Shortly after that, the two started dating.
They welcomed their son, Río, in June 2021.
“[Our split] has been a decision made from love, respect and the desire to do what is best for our family,” Valentina penned on her Instagram Story.
“Our priority will continue to be always accompanying Río with all our love,” she continued.
The model also appealed to the public to respect the privacy of herself and J Balvin as they navigate this significant change for their family.
“We are going through this process calmly and deeply appreciate the understanding and respect toward this very personal moment for us,” Valentina concluded.
This shocking news comes just days after the actress gave an interview to Brazil’s G Show.
During the interview, Valentina was asked about the key to her and J Balvin’s ten-year relationship.
“There isn’t [one key]. Each couple develops a different kind of complicity and way of approaching the relationship,” she said. “It’s more about respecting each other, knowing how to communicate, and a lot of companionship.”
