The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Dhaka has expressed dissatisfaction over the selective dissemination of excerpts from recent media interviews concerning developments in the Middle East, according to a press statement.
In the statement, it said such excerpts have been republished by certain media outlets and social media platforms, which it considers inconsistent with the friendly and brotherly relations between Iran and Bangladesh.
The embassy said these selective and, in its view, inaccurate representations are regrettable and contrary to the principles of responsible media conduct.
It also called upon all concerned to refrain from actions or statements that may create misperceptions and to uphold the spirit of mutual respect that underpins bilateral relations.
The statement reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to strengthening its longstanding relations with Bangladesh, describing ties between the two countries as friendly and based on mutual respect and shared values.
The statement further said the embassy welcomes the meeting between Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Khatibzadeh and Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
It also expressed heartfelt condolences over the loss of Bangladeshi nationals resulting from the war initiated by the United States and the Zionist regime and their unlawful aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
The embassy further said it would continue efforts to advance constructive engagements and expand cooperation across areas of mutual interest between the two nations.
