The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has detained an Indian national for allegedly entering Bangladesh illegally through a border area in Chattogram’s Fatikchhari.
The detainee, identified as Puton Mollo, 19, was apprehended around 1:30pm today (22 June) from North Andharmanik, a border-adjacent area of the upazila, with assistance from local residents.
The information was disclosed in a press release issued by Lieutenant Colonel Md Ahsan Ul Islam, commanding officer of the Ramgarh Battalion (43 BGB).
According to the release, Puton Mollo is the son of Badal Mollo of Ramendranagar village under Sabroom Police Station in South Tripura, India.
BGB said preparations are underway to file a case against him under the relevant laws. He will be handed over to Bhujpur Police Station for further legal proceedings.
The border force also reiterated its commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty, preventing illegal border crossings and combating transnational crimes.
