Import and export operations at the Hili Land Port here resumed today (24 October) following an eight-day closure in observance of the Sharadiya Durga Puja festival.
Trade between India and Bangladesh at the district’s Hili Land Port recommenced after an eight-day hiatus, which included the Durga Puja holidays and the weekly weekend break.
Operations at the Hili Land Port returned to normal today at 2:30pm. With this, the transportation of goods and commercial import-export activities between the two nations has resumed.
This was confirmed by Md. Shahinur Islam Mondal, general secretary of the Hili Land Port Customs C&F Agents Association.
Md. Zakaria, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Hili Land Port Immigration Check-post, told BSS that while the import and export of goods were suspended for Durga Puja, the movement of passport-holding passengers between the two countries continued uninterrupted.
Passenger transit has remained normal since this morning, he added.
