The International Crimes Tribunal has ordered newspaper notices calling on former Rajshahi City Corporation mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and 33 other fugitives to surrender in connection with a crimes against humanity case over the deaths of two protesters and serious injuries to several others in Rajshahi during the July Mass Uprising.
International Crimes Tribunal-2 issued the order today (1 October) and set 27 October for the next hearing.
Earlier, on 18 August, the tribunal took cognisance of the charges against the accused and issued arrest warrants for those who remain at large.
Of the 38 accused, four have been arrested. They are former MP Mohammad Asaduzzaman Asad, Dablu Sarker, Zahirul Islam Rubel and Mohaiminul Islam Manik.
The accused have been charged with the killing of two protesters, Raihan Ali and Anjum Sakib, and the serious injury of several others during the July mass uprising in Rajshahi.
The 38 accused are AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Mohammad Asaduzzaman Asad, Dablu Sarker, Biplab Bijoy Talukdar, Humayun Kabir, Rocky Kumar Ghosh, Rashik Dutta, Zahirul Islam Rubel, Bappi Chowdhury Roni, Mahidul Islam Mostafa, Khalid Hasan Biplob, Rashedul Karim Rozel, Mehedi Hasan alias Roni, Zedu Sarker alias Jabedur Rahman, Abdul Hamid Sarker alias Tekon, Anwar Hossain alias Anar, Arman Ali, Abdul Momin, Shahadat Hossain Shahu, Touhidul Haque Sumon, Mahtab Hossain Chowdhury, Alauddin alias Alal, Shariful Islam Babu, Mohammad Nabil Hasan, Mahmudul Hasan Rajib, Farhad Hossain Biplob, Tourid Al Masud Roni, Mehedi Hasan Rimel alias Rigen, Ashraful Islam Jafar, Sukanta Kumar Das, Faisal Ahmed Runu, Nur Mohammad Siam, Asadulla-Hil-Galib, Golam Kibria, Alal Parvez Lulu, Moniruzzaman Khan alias Monir, Shafiquzzaman alias Shafik and Mohaiminul Islam Manik.
