The International Crimes Tribunal-2 today (17 August) ordered that the three journalists- Shyamal Dutta, Mozammel Babu and Farzana Rupa – be produced before the tribunal on 24 August in a crimes against humanity case over alleged provocative statements made during the July Uprising.
Justice Md Manjurul Bachid, sitting as a single-member bench of the tribunal, passed the order following a petition filed by the prosecution.
Prosecutor Faruk Ahmed appeared for the prosecution during the hearing.
He told the tribunal that Shyamal, Babu and Rupa had made provocative statements during talk shows and other programmes aired by various media outlets amid the July Uprising.
The investigation has found the involvement of the three journalists in the case, the prosecutor said. The prosecution subsequently sought orders to bring them before the tribunal.
