An HSC examinee was killed in a road accident on her way to an examination centre in Chattogram’s EPZ area on Saturday (22 August), with police later arresting a crane driver allegedly involved in the accident.

Nafisa was travelling to Haji Mohammad Mohsin College to sit for her HSC examination. Police said Nafisa fell from a ride-share motorcycle while the rider was overtaking a rickshaw-van coming from the opposite direction.
A crane belonging to Max Company, travelling in the same lane, then ran over her, police said. The crane driver, Shamim, fled the scene after the accident.
Locals rescued the critically injured Nafisa and took her to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Following the accident, Nafisa’s father, Mamun, filed a case with EPZ Police Station the same day under relevant sections of the Road Transport Act, 2018.
Police later conducted a raid around 8:30pm the next day in the Free Port area under EPZ Police Station and arrested Shamim.
The raid was led by case investigating officer SI Hefaj Uddin under the supervision of EPZ Police Station Officer-in-Charge Muhammad Atiqur Rahman.
