Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir has said it currently takes 355 days from obtaining licences to importing machinery to start a new business, with the government aiming to reduce the time to 14 days.
A high-level committee is working to reduce the timeframe for obtaining licences and permissions needed to start a new business and importing machinery from 355 days to 14 days, he said today (24 June) while speaking as the chief guest at a workshop organised by the Economic Reporters’ Forum (ERF) and SME Foundation.
He added that the government will also ensure that necessary licences, including fire service licences, can be obtained within a shorter time.
The minister said uninterrupted energy supply will be provided to restore the business and investment environment, revive private investment and create employment.
He stated that the government has a plan on how uninterrupted energy supply will be ensured.
The minister also said strategic reserves of import-dependent products, including fuel oil and soybean oil, will be ensured.
