Giancarlo Esposito revealed what his daughters taught him.
Giancarlo starred as Allan Warren who is a detective in The Only Living Pickpocket in New York. Alongside Giancarlo the movie features a star-studded cast including, John Turturro, playing character of Harry Lehman who is main lead while Karina Arroyave portrays Harry’s wife.
In a recent interview with People Magazine Giancarlo revealed that “There’s a moment in the film that I really love.”
In which Harry dances with “his wife who’s incapacitated in a chair,” and describes it as “a moment of true joy.”
Reflecting on the particular scene the acclaimed actor said, “That moment really helps me because I’ve worked so hard all my life and now I’m raising kids.”
He went on to say, “I always thought I was overwhelmed, to get something done, to do something, but now I’m learning how to enjoy myself.”
“And so this moment in this movie reminded me of, ‘Oh, don’t forget to have fun,’” Giancarlo further added.
He playfully revealed about learning latest slangs from his kids, stating, “My kids have taught me that I am ‘fire.’”
Noting, “My daughter goes, ‘Papa, you’re fire.’ I’m like, ‘What does that mean?’”
Adding to the conversation the movie’s main lead actor acknowledged, “That’s perfect for him,” he continues, “She’s right.”
For those unaware, Giancarlo shares four daughters, Shayne Lyra, Kale Lyn, Syr Lucia and Ruby with ex-wife Joy McManigal, while John shares two children daughter Arianna and son Diego with his wife Katherine Borowitz.
Giancarlo opened up how fatherhood gave him a different perspective, saying, “I have four daughters and I love the experience of each and every one of them. And they taught me to listen and to love in a different way and to see the world in a different way. A lot of it is through their eyes.”
On the other hand John added, “Being a parent is a humbling experience because we don’t go to school to teach you about parenting.”
He noted, “You learn as it goes on that they’re separate individuals and they’re beautiful in their own way. And it’s a learning experience and it really does broaden you as a person.”
The Only Living Pickpocket in New York is set to be released in October.
