Former minister and valiant freedom fighter Engineer Mosharraf Hossain passed away while undergoing treatment at a city hospital here today (13 May).
He breathed his last at around 10:15am today (13 May) at the age of 83, family sources said.
Engineer Mosharraf Hossain is survived by his wife, three sons and one daughter.
His son, former Member of Parliament Engineer Mahbub Rahman Ruhel, said his father had been undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of the hospital for several days due to multiple health complications.
Engineer Mosharraf Hossain was first elected as a member of the then East Pakistan Provincial Council in 1970. After Bangladesh’s independence, he was elected six times as a Member of Parliament from the Chattogram-1 (Mirsharai) constituency.
He was also a valiant freedom fighter and made significant contributions to the country’s Liberation War in 1971.
Ruhel said the first namaj-e-janaza of Mosharraf Hossain will be held after Asr prayers at Gulshan Azad Mosque here today (13 May). The second janaza will be held at 11:00am at Jamiatul Falah Mosque tomorrow (14 May). He will be laid to eternal rest after his third janaza at 5:00pm at Mahajanhat School ground in Mirsharai
