A former senior accessories director at American Vogue, just came forward with the truth about the Met Gala and how the fashion mogul transformed a society dinner into one of Hollywood’s biggest event of the year.
The former employee in question is named Filipa Fino and she shared the nitty gritty behind her motivation in a conversation with The Times.
According to Fino, the timeline when she was working the Met Gala to the top was a ‘red-hot time, because Wintour and Tilberis were trying to best each other at the time.
However it came to a head when the People’s Princess got involved, and on the invitation of Tilberis, attended the Met Gala, but not only that, was also slated to become part of September 1997 issue which meant “it meant war – and Wintour was losing.”
According to the Daily Mail, “it was from then onwards that Wintour, who believed she should’ve been the one to accompany the princess to the ball, became obsessed with the Met Gala.”
Moreover, shortly before it was set to even happen “the princess died and it never happened and Anna had no way of getting redemption.”
“This seed of Anna never being able to host Princess Diana at the Met, and her vision of what it should be like – worthy of a princess – is what drove her from 1996 to today,” Fino explained. “She took on the Costume Institute Ball as her own personal project.”
As for her behavior behind the scenes though Fino admitted “she’s p***** off at God. She’s p***** off at time.” Moreover “she’s p***** off with history, which had Diana die before she got her a cover,” she said before signing off.
