Five suspects were snatched from police custody after a group of assailants surrounded officers in Narayanganj’s Fatullah this afternoon (6 May).
The incident took place around 4:30pm in the Kashipur’s Hashambagh area, just a day after three members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) were injured in a separate attack in the district.
Confirming the matter, Fatullah Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mahabubur Rahman said, “Police responded to a 999 emergency call reporting an attack and looting at a tin-shed house. Upon arrival, officers detained several individuals along with looted goods and loaded them onto two vans.”
“However, a group of local criminals, led by a man known as Jony, soon gathered at the scene, surrounded our team and forcibly freed the detainees. Two of the suspects were still in handcuffs when they were taken away,” the OC added.
According to locals, the incident occurred at the house of a former police member, Solaiman, where vandalism and looting were underway. During the operation, police had detained alleged extortionist Abdullah along with others involved in the incident.
