A fire broke out at an electrical substation in Brahmanbaria’s Datiaira area early today (29 August), disrupting power supply to several areas.
The fire broke out around 5:30am at an auxiliary transformer of the substation, said Md Nasir Uddin, assistant engineer of the Bangladesh Power Development Board’s Distribution Division in Brahmanbaria.
Repair work is underway to restore power as soon as possible, he added.
The transformer was damaged in the fire, leaving several areas without electricity.
Firefighters reached the scene after receiving the report and brought the blaze under control in around 15 minutes, said Md Nazmul Alam, senior station officer of the fire service in Brahmanbaria.
The cause of the fire could not be immediately determined.
No casualties were reported in the incident.
