Case over killing of Abu Sayeed in Jashore
On 18 February 2015, the bullet-riddled body of Abu Sayeed was found in Manirampur, Jashore. His family alleged that he had been killed extrajudicially after being detained by police.
Nearly nine years later, Sayeed’s wife, Parvin Khatun, filed a case before a Jashore court against Anisur and seven others over the incident.
Parvin alleged that her husband died in police custody and that she was turned away when she went to the police station to file a case. She has since taken the matter to court.
Case over shooting of two Chhatra Shibir leaders
Anisur and other police personnel from Chaugachha Police Station were accused of detaining two leaders of Islami Chhatra Shibir in Jashore on false charges on 3 August 2016 and torturing them for two nights.
The two men, who were the then general secretary and literature secretary of the organisation’s Chaugachha unit, were allegedly shot in the legs after police staged a gunfight. Both subsequently had to undergo amputations, according to the allegations.
A case against Anisur and seven others over the incident is pending before the International Crimes Tribunal. Three of the accused are in jail, while five remain absconding.
The tribunal framed charges in the case on 20 April 2026. The prosecution has alleged that Rahman, who was the SP of Jashore at the time, ordered the shooting.
Case over firing on protesters on 5 August
Anisur is also among 21 police officers named in a case filed in court under the Explosives Act over allegations of firing on students and members of the public in Rajshahi on 5 August 2024.
Allegations of enforced disappearance and other shootings
The former DIG is also accused of involvement in the enforced disappearance of BNP activist Mohammad Masum in Jashore Sadar.
According to sources at the International Crimes Tribunal, applications have also been filed in connection with two other alleged gunfight incidents involving Rahman.
