Family and Health Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain has said that a “Central Emergency Alarm System” will be introduced at government hospitals in the capital to strengthen the safety of doctors and healthcare workers.
He made the announcement at a programme held at the Central Medical Stores Depot (CMSD) in the capital’s Tejgaon today (19 May), where ventilators and other medical equipment received as donations were handed over to hospitals.
The minister said initiatives have been taken to introduce a “Code Blue” or “Emergency Alarm System” to ensure rapid security support during emergency situations at hospitals.
At the same time, there are plans to establish a separate police camp in the Mohakhali area to strengthen security at health-related establishments, he added.
According to the minister, the system will initially be launched at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.

Regarding the distribution of medical equipment, he said 10 district headquarters hospitals have each received one ventilator for ICU facilities.
The Health Minister added that the units will be inaugurated within a week after Eid-ul-Adha.
