Dove Cameron’s wedding to musician Damiano David was officiated by her Descendants director, Kenny Ortega, earlier in September.
Speaking to Coveteur magazine, the actress and singer explained that Kenny was the perfect choice because she formed a close bond with the High School Musical director, especially after her father died in 2011.
She explained, “Damiano and I knew we wanted it to be done by someone who meant something to one of us personally.”
Dove continued, “It was his idea to have it be someone from my side, mostly because my father couldn’t be there, and because we were getting married in Italy, [and] some of my guest list couldn’t make it due to the time commitment and busy schedules.
“I’ve been very lucky to have a large number of mentors and father figures alike, who stepped into my life in a nurturing role when I was looking for it,” Dove gushed.
She further added of her and Kenny’s dynamic, noting, “Kenny will forever be one of the first people to see me for who I was, to choose me, nurture me, and help me become who I am.”
It is pertinent to mention that Dove and the Måneskin frontman tied the knot in September at the town hall in Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy.
She first met Damiano at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2022 but began dating in 2023.
The couple announced their engagement in January 2026 after Damiano proposed in October 2025.
Meanwhile, Dove is all set to release her debut album, Final Girl as she announced on her Instagram, “This record means the world to me and I can’t wait for you to hear it.”
