The Dhaka Metropolitan Police has imposed a restriction on public movement within 200 yards of examination centres during the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent exams, set to begin on Tuesday (21 April).
The order was issued under Sections 28 and 29 of the DMP Ordinance (No. III/1976) by the acting commissioner, Md Sarwar, to ensure a peaceful and orderly examination environment.
According to a statement signed by the acting commissioner and sent to the media today (18 April), only examinees and individuals directly involved in conducting the exams will be allowed within the designated areas during exam hours.
The restriction will remain in force on each exam day throughout the examination period, the notice added.
Strict action against parking
In a separate notification, DMP has also issued traffic and movement guidelines to ensure smooth commuting for candidates and maintain normal traffic flow across the capital during the exams, which will be held at 127 centres in the capital.
The notice stated that no vehicles will be allowed to park on roads adjacent to exam centres. Legal action will be taken against any violations, the notification said.
Examinees have been advised to leave home well in advance. Those using private vehicles are instructed to get down at less congested areas near the centres and walk the remaining distance, both before and after the exams.
Guardians have been requested not to gather on nearby roads, as causing traffic disruption is punishable under the Road Transport Act.
Additionally, from two and a half hours before each exam, general commuters, except examinees, are advised to avoid roads surrounding exam centres unless absolutely necessary.
