Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today (29 April) inaugurated nine new software systems and online platforms aimed at strengthening crime control, traffic management, and citizen services through advanced use of information technology.
The newly launched systems include; AI-Based Road Transport Act Violation Detection System, Hotel Boarder Information System, Hello DMP App, DMP Online Training System, DMP Residence Allocation System, DMP Leave Management System, Traffic Duty Distribution Software, DMP Employee Performance Evaluation Software and DMP Traffic News Archive.
Inspector General of Police, Md. Ali Hossain Fakir and Acting DMP Commissioner Md. Sarwar were present at the inauguration programme held at the sixth floor of DMP Headquarters in the capital.
As part of its ongoing efforts to modernize traffic management and reduce congestion in the capital, the DMP is introducing the AI-Based Road Transport Act Violation Detection System to identify traffic law violations and enforce regulations using artificial intelligence.
Under a joint initiative of the Dhaka City Corporation and DMP, traffic signals have already been installed at 25 important points, including Hotel InterContinental, Banglamotor, Karwan Bazar, Bijoy Sarani, Jahangir Gate, and Abdul Gani Road. The number of such points will be gradually increased.
Cameras, installed at these 25 signal points will be used to monitor vehicular movement and detect traffic violations. Based on this data, cases will be filed through an e-traffic prosecution system.
The Hotel Boarder Information System will digitally store information of guests staying in residential hotels across Dhaka. This system is expected to help identify suspects or criminal individuals more efficiently, reduce hotel-related crimes, and enhance urban security.
Through the Hello DMP App, citizens will gain easier access to police services. The app will provide information on various online police services, contact numbers of police stations, traffic-related updates, and contacts for reporting cybercrime and crimes against women and children. Citizens will also be able to submit complaints via email with supporting evidence.
The DMP Online Training System will enable police personnel to enhance their skills and professional capacity by completing courses and participating in examinations online.
Officers will be able to earn certificates without physically attending training centres, allowing them to improve their expertise at their convenience and deliver more effective services to citizens.
The DMP Residence Allocation System will streamline and digitize the housing allocation process for police personnel, ensuring greater transparency and efficiency.
Similarly, the DMP Leave Management System will digitalize the leave approval process, making it faster and more transparent.
The Traffic Duty Distribution Software will replace traditional duty allocation methods by introducing a coordinated digital platform. It will not only assign duties but also allow real-time monitoring of the deployed personnel and their activities in the field.
The DMP Employee Performance Evaluation Software will assess daily activities and professional achievements of police members. Based on evaluations, incentives may be provided, and necessary training programs will be arranged to improve performance.
The DMP Traffic News Archive will serve as a centralized repository of news related to traffic management and police activities, enabling the public to access relevant information with a single click.
The DMP has reaffirmed its commitment to serving citizens with utmost sincerity, emphasizing that it will continue to stand by the people at all times through technology-driven initiatives.
