Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 482 people in drives against various crimes across the capital in the 24 hours till this morning (22 August).
Police also filed 32 cases against the arrestees during the period, according to a DMP statement.
The arrests were made by different DMP units, with 44 people arrested by Ramna Division, 44 by Lalbagh Division, 55 by Wari Division, 57 by Motijheel Division, 56 by Tejgaon Division, 119 by Mirpur Division, 39 by Gulshan Division, 59 by Uttara Division and nine by the Detective Branch, it added.
During the special drive, police recovered 13,914 yaba pills, 913 grammes of heroin and 32kg of cannabis, the statement said.
They also seized a gold locket, counterfeit notes worth Tk16,000, nine mobile phones, three laptops, two CPUs, two tablets, 55 SIM cards and Tk268,500 in cash.
Legal proceedings against the arrestees are underway, the DMP statement mentioned.
