Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has launched an online citizen reporting initiative allowing residents to report littering and waste dumping in public spaces through social media.
Under the initiative, residents are encouraged to record a photo or video whenever they spot garbage in public areas, post it on social media, tag DNCC and use the hashtag #FixItDNCC.
The initiative is aimed at helping the city corporation identify waste-related problems more quickly, alert relevant teams and take faster action to clean affected areas.
By involving residents in reporting waste accumulation, DNCC is seeking to make citizen feedback part of its waste-management process and improve response times, according to a post on the corporation’s official Facebook page.
“Wherever you see garbage, quickly record a video and post it. Tag DNCC and use #FixItDNCC,” the post said.
“Under the direction of DNCC Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton, we are trying to work differently. With your cooperation and our collective efforts, a new, clean city will emerge,” it added.
The campaign carries the message: “The responsibility to solve it is ours.”
DNCC said the initiative is part of its efforts to build a cleaner city through greater public participation.
