Bangladesh recorded its highest daily dengue death toll of the year, with nine patients dying from the mosquito-borne disease in the last 24 hours, taking the country’s death toll to 130.
The country also recorded a yearly-high 1,571 new dengue hospitalisations during the period, according to a press release issued today (8 September) by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest daily hospital admissions surpassed the previous record of 1,558 recorded on 6 September.
Of the nine deaths reported in the latest 24-hour period, one was recorded in Barishal Division outside the city corporation area, one in Dhaka Division, three in Dhaka South City Corporation, two in Khulna Division and one in Mymensingh Division.
The cumulative number of dengue cases reported across the country has now reached 45,475.
