Eight people died of dengue across the country in the last 24 hours, while 2,036 new patients were hospitalised during the same period.
The latest figures take the country’s dengue death toll to 233, according to a press release issued today (28 September) by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the eight deaths, one each was reported from Barishal, Chattogram, Khulna, Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions, as well as Dhaka South City Corporation. Two deaths were reported from Dhaka North City Corporation.
In the first 28 days of September, 136 people died of dengue, making it the deadliest month so far this year.
Dengue claimed five lives from January to May, followed by 13 deaths in June, 36 in July and 43 in August.
Meanwhile, 2,064 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries this year to 70,258.
The cumulative number of dengue cases reported across the country has reached 75,730.
