A clash broke out between activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and Islami Chhatra Shibir at Shahbagh Police Station in the capital around 8pm today (23 April).
During the incident, Musaddiq, the literature and cultural affairs secretary of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu), was reportedly assaulted.
According to eyewitnesses, the clash erupted when Abdullah Al Mahmud, who contested for the Ducsu executive member post from a Shibir-backed panel, went to the police station to file a general diary (GD) over a fake screenshot.
Tensions escalated inside the premises, leading to a physical altercation between activists of the two student organisations.
Witnesses said the situation at Shahbagh Police Station remained tense following the incident.
