Britons React to Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s Resignation Announcement
After Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that he is resigning from his position, Britons shared their thoughts about a change of leadership.

“That is why I will resign as leader of the Labour Party.” “I’m not surprised. I think he’s done the right thing. I think he needs to step aside and let someone else take over.” “No —” “I don’t think there’ll be any change. It’s just another day, another leader.” “It doesn’t matter. The situation doesn’t — it doesn’t help. It’s just a new face, but the same.” “People do want change. I think that no one is happy with the way that things are at the moment.” “Everyone can feel that the country isn’t where it should be.” “We’ve had many changes of prime ministers in recent years, which is very unusual for the U.K. We really need stability and someone who’s going to get on and meet those challenges and problems head on, and then maybe we can put the past behind us.” “It appears to be a foregone conclusion that Andy Burnham is going to become prime minister. It looks like it might be a coronation. There is some debate that it should be contested, and it would be more healthy if there was some form of contest.” “I’m just worried it’s going to be out of the frying pan and into the fire now, with potentially this Andy Burnham coming in.”
