The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today (26 July) prevented four Indian nationals, a woman and three children, from illegally entering Bangladesh through the Saldanadi border in Cumilla’s Brahmanpara Upazila.
According to a press release, the incident occurred near the zero line along the Bangladesh-India border around 10:30am.
The BGB said members of the Saldanadi Border Outpost of Brahmanbaria 60th Battalion spotted the four individuals attempting to cross into Bangladesh. After assessing the situation, the team stopped them and sent them back.
Lt Col SM Shariful Islam, commanding officer of the battalion, said border security remains under close surveillance. “The BGB is maintaining heightened vigilance and continuing operational and intelligence activities to prevent illegal border crossings, drug trafficking, and cross-border smuggling.”
