Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized illegally imported Indian mobile phone displays worth around Tk4 crore from a jungle near the Indian border in Bijoynagar area of Brahmanbaria yesterday (25 September).
Lieutenant Colonel Jabbar Ahmed, commanding officer of the 25 Battalion, disclosed the information at a press conference held at the battalion headquarters today (26 September).
Lt Col Jabbar said BGB conducted a special operation based on a tip-off. During the operation, troops recovered 5,005 Indian-made displays for smartphones that had been hidden inside a local jungle.
He also said the estimated market value of the seized displays was worth more than Tk4 crore.
“The items are currently being processed for handover to Akhaura Customs,” he added.
