Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has foiled another attempt by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) to push four people into Bangladesh through the Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah.
The incident occurred today (15 August) around 1:30pm near the Chapaltala Mazar area under Kusumpur Border Outpost (BOP) of the Maheshpur–based 58 BGB Battalion.
According to the BGB, a patrol team from Kusumpur BOP intercepted four people near zero line as the BSF attempted to push them into Bangladesh from India.
The four people included two men, a woman and a child. Their identities were not immediately known.
As of the latest information, they were staying about 150 yards inside Indian territory from the zero line.
BGB officials said the matter had already been brought to the attention of the commander of the BSF’s 194 Battalion.
In a press release, Assistant Director of 58 BGB Battalion Munshi Imdadur Rahman said BGB remains vigilant to protect the border, prevent push–ins and illegal entry, and maintain peace and order in border areas.
