Leaders and activists of the banned Awami League allegedly brought out a torch procession in Banshkhali, Chattogram, yesterday (13 August).
Party activists claimed that the procession took place in the Chunati Bazar area under Baharchhara Union.
Meanwhile, a 3-minute-and-53-second video of the procession has gone viral on social media, showing around 50 to 60 people marching with torches while chanting various slogans, followed by speeches from several individuals.
According to local sources, the procession was held in the Chunati Bazar area of Baharchhara Union.
However, no immediate comments were available from the local administration or the police regarding the event.
Sudhangshu Shekhar Haldar, inspector (investigation) of Banshkhali Police Station, said, “I am unaware of the matter. I will look into it.”
Earlier on Wednesday night, another procession involving leaders and activists of the banned Chhatra League reportedly took place in the area adjacent to Tailardweep Bridge in Banshkhali.
