A Bangladeshi worker’s body was found hanging from the 10th Industrial Area of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.
The deceased has been identified as Md Helal, 25, the son of Md Nur Alam, a resident of Ward No 7 of Char Martin Union under Kamalnagar upazila in Lakshmipur.
Today (14 April), the victim’s family told journalists that he was allegedly murdered and his body was later hung by colleagues or individuals linked to his employer.
According to victim’s father, Helal was killed at his workplace in Sharjah on Saturday (11 April), after which the body was hung inside a toilet.
He said, “But I am unaware of the identities of those responsible.”
Nur Alam added that he came to know about his son’s death through one of Helal’s co-workers.
Family sources said Helal had migrated to the United Arab Emirates in November 2023, where he had been working as a painter at a company named “Nur Al Kamal Paint Contracting.”
His brother, Foisal, had returned home from the same company some time ago following workplace-related issues, they added.
The victim’s father, devastated by the untimely death of his only earning son, has called for a proper investigation into the incident through the Bangladesh government in coordination with UAE authorities.
The family has also urged the relevant ministries and departments to facilitate the swift repatriation of the body.
When contacted, Officer-in-Charge of Kamalnagar Police Station Md Faridul Alam, said that they have not yet received any such information.
Faridul added that once the proper information is received, it would be investigated and reported to higher authorities.
