The Bangladesh-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI) held a business dialogue with Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Germany Muhammad Zulqar Nain at its Dhaka office yesterday (19 September).
According to a press release, the meeting was attended by BGCCI board members, a former president of the chamber, and CEOs and senior representatives of member companies, including German businesses operating in Bangladesh.
BGCCI President Md Rokonuzzaman, FCA, delivered the welcome address, while Senior Vice President Farooque Khan presented the chamber’s activities and initiatives to strengthen bilateral business relations.
Ambassador Muhammad Zulqar Nain outlined initiatives by the Bangladesh Embassy in Germany to strengthen investor confidence and promote Bangladesh as an investment destination. He also highlighted opportunities for German businesses to export to Bangladesh and expand their presence in the local market.
The ambassador emphasised Bangladesh’s growing strategic importance to Germany and opportunities for stronger economic cooperation.
He also appreciated the German government’s support for Bangladesh’s candidacy at the United Nations.
Discussions focused on expanding bilateral trade, strengthening business partnerships and attracting German investment, including through joint ventures, technology cooperation, business matchmaking and access to German and wider European markets.
Emerging cooperation areas included semiconductor packaging, inverter technology and solar-panel-related technologies, alongside established sectors such as apparel, energy, and IT and digital services.
Participants stressed the importance of regular business delegations, B2B matchmaking, trade fairs, investment promotion and stronger institutional cooperation to develop commercial partnerships.
BGCCI and the Bangladesh Embassy in Berlin will continue working together on initiatives to promote bilateral trade, facilitate business partnerships and encourage German investment, the press release said.
