Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam has directed authorities to maintain strict monitoring at every stage of development projects under the ministry to ensure transparency and accountability.
The directive came during a review meeting on the implementation progress of the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for April of the 2025–26 fiscal year held at the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism at the Bangladesh Secretariat today (23 May), according to a press release.
Addressing the meeting, the minister said all ongoing projects must be completed within the shortest possible time in line with the government’s directives.
She emphasised that transparency in project execution is crucial, particularly for projects funded with public money.
“To ensure transparency in project implementation, strict supervision and monitoring must be maintained at all levels,” she said, urging officials concerned to perform their responsibilities with greater vigilance.
The minister noted that the benefits of projects implemented with taxpayers’ money should ultimately reach the people.
She also stressed the need for proper planning before undertaking infrastructure development and instructed authorities to closely monitor contractors’ performance and work progress.
Afroza further said financial feasibility assessments should be carefully reviewed before taking up any future projects in the aviation and tourism sectors.
The meeting was chaired by Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Fahmida Akhtar.
Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh Air Vice Marshal Mostafa Mahmood Siddiq, senior ministry officials and directors of ongoing projects were also present.
