The minister added, “How the process will be done needs to be decided jointly by the police, the military and the other relevant agencies through a phased process”.

The government has taken a policy decision to gradually withdraw members of the armed forces – including the Army, Air Force and Navy – from field-level duties, said Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed.
While responding to questions from journalists at the Secretariat today (7 May), Salahuddin said, “At the government level, we have reached a policy decision that we cannot keep the military deployed indefinitely for maintaining law and order. An elected, political government has now assumed responsibility. We believe we have been able to restore the police force to an organised and disciplined state.”
“How the process will be done needs to be decided jointly by the police, the military and the other relevant agencies through a phased process,” the minister added.
