The Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch (DB) has arrested Nayan Hossain, convener of Adabor thana Chhatra Dal, over allegations of obstructing a city corporation drainage project and demanding extortion money from building owners in the area.
Tejgaon DB Deputy Commissioner Ziauddin confirmed today (21 October) that Nayan had been arrested the previous day.
According to DB sources, Nayan was arrested over allegations of obstructing the city corporation’s sewerage and drainage improvement work in Adabor and demanding extortion money from building owners in the area.
Adabor Police Station Officer-in-Charge Zahidur Rahman told The Business Standard that he had heard DB police had arrested Nayan but that the suspect had not yet been handed over to the police station.
“I also do not know under which case he has been arrested,” he added.
