The third namaz-e-janaza of content creator and actress Kaarina Kaisar was held at the Central Shaheed Minar on Sunday night, with a large number of colleagues, supporters and admirers gathering to pay their last respects.
The namaz-e-janaza took place around 10:30pm and was attended by leaders and activists of various political parties and organisations, including National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam, Dhaka city Jamaat Secretary General Dr Shafiqul Islam Masud, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir.
Before the prayer, Kaarina’s father Kaisar Hamid and mother Lopa Kaisar sought prayers for their daughter.
Her first janaza was held after Maghrib at Banani DOHS field, followed by the second after Isha at Banani Darbar Sharif. A fourth janaza is scheduled to be held in her ancestral home in Munshiganj on Monday before her burial.
Kaarina died on 15 May while undergoing treatment at Christian Medical College Hospital in India due to liver-related complications.
She had been on life support in Bangladesh since the night of 8 May. As her condition worsened, her family arranged to take her abroad, and she was flown to Chennai by air ambulance from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on 11 May.
Family sources said Kaarina initially developed a fever, which later turned into an infection. She was subsequently diagnosed with Hepatitis A and E complications, leading to liver failure.
She was admitted to the ICU and later put on life support as her condition deteriorated.
Kaarina gained popularity among netizens in a short time through her humorous content. She was also involved in acting and had earned recognition as a scriptwriter.
