Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Md. Abdus Salam inaugurated a tree-planting program today.
Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Md Abdus Salam said the city corporation is working tirelessly to transform Dhaka into a livable, modern, and “clean city, green city.”
“Achieving this goal requires the active participation and collective efforts of political organisations and city residents, alongside the government and administration,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of a tree-planting programme at Prottasha Chattar in the capital today (15 May).
Emphasising the importance of preventing dengue and chikungunya during the upcoming monsoon season, the administrator said, “Under the weekly cleaning day initiative, we are carrying out special activities across the city. However, to successfully control mosquitoes, city residents must also be aware and responsible from their own positions.”
“Keeping our homes and surroundings clean and ensuring that no water accumulates anywhere is our civic duty,” he added.
Salam also mentioned that the tree-planting initiative undertaken by the BNP and its affiliated organisations to beautify Dhaka through greenery is a commendable effort and such activities will help make the city more livable.
