The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (Berc) has kept the price of a 12kg liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder unchanged at Tk1,940 for May 2026, despite adjustments in benchmark international prices.
In a press release issued today (3 May), the regulator said the retail price of private LPG at the consumer level has been set at Tk161.71 per kg, inclusive of VAT.
Based on this rate, the price of a 12kg cylinder remains unchanged from the previous month of April.
The price adjustment has been made in line with the Saudi Aramco Contract Price (CP) for May, which was fixed at $750 per tonne for propane and $800 per tonne for butane.
The weighted average CP stands at $782.50 per tonne, with an exchange rate of Tk123 per US dollar taken into account.
The price of liquid LPG has been set at Tk157.96 per kg, while gaseous LPG has been fixed at Tk351 per cubic metre.
Meanwhile, the price of autogas has been adjusted to Tk89.52 per litre for May.
The regulator said prices of different cylinder sizes, ranging from 5.5kg to 45kg, have also been adjusted proportionately in line with the per-kg rate.
For state-run LPG, the price remains unchanged at Tk776.93 for a 12.5kg cylinder at the dealer or retailer level, as per a previous order issued on 23 February 2026.
The new prices come into effect from 6pm today.
