Two ships carrying a total of 44,000 tonnes of diesel from India and China are scheduled to arrive at Chattogram Port today (28 April), as fuel imports continue.
The first vessel, Hong Kong-flagged Gran Couva, carrying 34,000 tonnes of diesel from India, is expected to arrive at around 3pm.
Later, the Singapore-flagged Hafnia Marlin, carrying 10,000 tonnes of diesel from China, is scheduled to arrive at around 11pm, confirmed Nazrul Islam, managing partner of Pride Shipping Line, the local agent for the ships.
He said seven ships carrying fuel oil had arrived at the port over the past week. Two vessels have already left after unloading oil.
“At present, three ships are stationed at the Dolphin Jetty and two are at the outer anchorage, while two more are expected to anchor today,” he said.
He added that despite poor weather conditions, there had so far been no major disruption to oil unloading operations.
